The Host

I finished reading the Host today and it was pretty interesting. I found it to be a little bit predictable, but still good. But now I have a dilemma that I face every time I finish a good book... I do not have any idea what to read next!!! PLEASE HELP!!! I like romance, mystery, WWII, Nancy Drew (read a lot of those in my younger years) and just darn good books! Suggestions PLEASE!!!!

I liked the Host a lot for what it was. Different from her other books, but I thought it was interesting, too. Have you read Memoirs of a Geisha? One of my favs and infinitely better than the movie if you saw it. Very interesting story--romance, war, happy, sad, and one of the most beautifully written books I've ever read. I made Amy read it and she just loves it too.

Read the Shopaholic books starting with Confessions of a Shopaholic. They are funny and light. I'm on the third one right now. and i recomend Memiors of a Geisha too. really good.

Seriously, I was totally in that dillema too! Then I started reading the Uglies series by scott westerfeld. Pretty cool. If you like Mystery, pick up a Harlan Coben book. I would give you mine, but I just donated a BUNCH of book to the Public Library! For light reading, I enjoyed 'The Undomestic Goddess" (don't remember the author), and Jennifer Weiner books. Yes, that's really her last name!

So, I usually feel guilty if I'm reading anything EXCEPT if it's for Seminary, but this book called the Host, well, it sounds like it's about a blood sucking insect. Sorry, I'm old.

Ashford is a school in Ohio that offers BA programs online :) It's got all it's accredidations, and I'm getting a huge discount on classes! I'm so excited - I'll have my BA next Feb! Woooo!

As far as reading - I'm reading a book right now that I absolutely love called 'The Year of Living Biblically' - by A.J. Jacobs.

He basically lives life for 12 months with strict adherence to the bible. Pretty interesting when he comes to parts like 'stone adulterers' and making blood sacrifices :). It's really clever, and entertaining - plus, provides food for thought. You should read it!

Charolette's Web is a good one. Be careful though, if you don't like spiders or pigs it might gross you out.

So I don't know what exactly you enjoy, but these are some amazing (and some of my favorite) books:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner (two very different books, even though the titles sound similar)
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Anything by Shannon Hale, but The Goose Girl is my favorite
Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See

ever need some more? I've got lots of recommendations. :)

And we're sorry we weren't able to hang out over Christmas! Maybe in April when we come out for Shawn's reception.

So Shar beat me to it...she reccommended my all time favorite books. Except Snowflower and secret fan..I really hated that one. I will go find more that she hasn't said. ;)
Happy Reading!
