Thankful Thursday

This might sound kind of strange seeing as I'm 24 years old and "graduated" from Young Woman's 6 years ago, but I'm thankful for the Personal Progress program! When I was in Young Women's the program was different than it is today. Back in my day, we had to complete goals for each year that you were in Young Women's and then at the end of your second year (or in my case at the end of my 2nd month in my 2nd year - I was a personal progress junkie) you would receive a medallion - they were gold medallions so no one really ever wore theirs :) But I have all 3 of mine plus my Young Womanhood medallion. I loved doing personal progress because I'm a goal driven person. Now that I'm in Young Women's again as a leader I have the opportunity to earn my Young Womanhood Recognition Award again! The program is way different now and at first I didn't care for it but now I really like it. I don't have to do as much as the girls have to do because my service hours as a leader count, but for the past 2 weeks I've been doing Personal Progress as my scripture study and it is AWESOME! I love it! I love Young Women's - especially my ward's Young Women! I love this gospel! I love our prophet! I love my Savior! And of course, I love Personal Progress!

Euphoria

Last Saturday night, James, Christy, Ben and I went to dinner at Red Robin. It was fun and I had a really good croissant sandwich. Ben and James both got Raspberry Mint Lemonade and would "fight" over the refills. Ben took one refill that James thought looked good so he stuck his straw in it and shared it with Ben... It was really quite romantic :) Christy and I thought it was funny enough to take picture of... I don't know why at this point, but we did.

Ryan's New Tricks :)

So for the past couple of weeks Ryan has been getting really good at pulling himself up and cruising. Now he is mastering the standing up without holding onto anything! It's really cute - this isn't the best picture of him standing, but right now... it's the only one :)

And yet another trick Ryan has learned is to close doors... While I was sitting in Ryan's room blogging - he crawled out of his room - across the living room and into my room where he closed the door... The only problem is that he can't figure out how to let himself out once he has closed the door. I heard a faint cry and wondered where my boy was and I found him in my room sitting by the door holding onto his "snuggle" (a little 6"x6" soft blanket with a frog on it) crying! It was kind of cute actually :) I might be a bad mother because I laughed at what he had done... IT WAS CUTE!
He also likes playing the the hose attachment for the vacuum cleaner.
And he has also discovered that it is really fun to pull all of the DVD's out of the TV stand.

Here ya go mom!

GNO

Last night, Melinda Hoy, Collette Guerrero, Christy LaLanne and I went out for a wild night on the town! By wild I mean we went shopping and dinner and by town I mean San Marcos :) I had a great time and I hope the other girls did too! Here are some fun pictures from the night and unfortunately Melinda was the photographer and I don't have any of her :( But thank-you for taking the photos :)

Christy and I have very similar tastes... We ended up buying the same skirt (which I might return due to the fact that it cost money...) and also bought the same shirt (different colors of course:)) But we knew we had gone too far when we found the same Paris Hilton brand dress and Apple Bottom Jeans hat... We were... how should I put it... HOT!
Christy then had the great idea that we should be fish... I made the picture small because my face look ridiculous and Christy thought her neck looked strange :) But that's how fish are supposed to look! We went to dinner at Chili's and it was yummy! Collette was the winner spending only $10 on her meal and I was the BIG LOSER who spent $30!!! How does one person spend $30 on a meal???? I was kind of upset about that but I did get ribs and a fabulous desert and a diet Coke... Collette on the other hand got a salad and water... She I'm sure felt better after dinner than I did :) Moral of the story... EAT SALAD... DRINK WATER!
Our GNO was super fun and I can't wait for our next one! Rock Climbing here we come!

Thankful Thursday #2

When I got into work today there was half of a cake sitting on the conference table. I was very excited about this... Let me back up... For a few months now, Melinda (my sis-in-law) has been taking a cake making/ decorating class and she makes FABULOUS cakes! Very yummy and very pretty. Usually she will bring them in the office so that everyone can eat it and usually I come in too late to get any, but today there was a half of cake left!!! And not just any cake... BANANA cake with BANANA filling! I LOVE BANANAS! So today I'm thankful for Banana cake and Melinda for making it and for my co-workers for not eating it all!!!

Thankful Thursday

I love good Mexican Food. REAL Mexican food. Not the crap you get from Taco Bell, but REAL yummy stuff. So this week I'm thankful for this little Mexican food place called Taqueria. It is GREAT Mexican food and cheep! I love eating there every time we head up to Disneyland (the closest one is in Orange.) Also a big shout out to Ryan Huff for introducing Ben and I to this wonderful establishment :)

Am I the Next ANTM?

This week on America's Next Top Model - the girls headed off to California Adventure to do a photo shoot in a phone booth.

((Judging))

Tyra: First up Erin. This week you had a photo shoot in a phone booth. How did you like it?

Erin: I actually really like it. It was great working with Ben Hoy as our photographer this week. I think he bring a lot of creativity to the shoot.
Tyra: Thanks, Here is your best shot.
Twiggy: Oh that is lovely

Mrs J: Giiiiirrrrllll, Look at those long legs.

Nigel Barker: I love the way the light captures your face. Can we get a close up?

Tyra: You really brought your A game to this shoot - YOU ARE FIERCE!

(So maybe I watch this show a bit too much???)

Wes Calland Sighting

While we were watching the Parade at California Adventure on Monday we saw that Wes was in the Parade! We didn't even know he was in California!!! We yelled his name but apparently he didn't hear us. But we got photographic proof that Wes is in the parade... You can judge for yourself!

Memorial Day at Disneyland

For Memorial day we decided to go to Disneyland. It was pretty fun. Ryan thought he was pretty gansta' in his Mickey Mouse shirt and hat... Silly Ry.
My Mom bought Ryan a Mickey Mouse balloon. First of all, when he sees Mickey Mouse (whether it's on a shirt or a picture or anything) he goes ooohhhh! It's really funny and that's what he's doing in this picture with the balloon.

Ryan touched some water...

And he and Daddy said OoooooHHhhhh

We waited in line to ride the bug ride that spins and Ryan thought that was boring...

But then he got kind of scared of the ride...

We watched the Pixar Parade...

And we saw Lightening McQueen...

And we touched some stuff...

And we saw some other cool stuff...

And we also saw Mator...Then the parade was over and Ryan was really tired...

But we made him take a family picture anyway :)

And he really didn't want to...

We really did have a fun day - It was nice to have the day off to play and do whatever we wanted too! :)

Fun Times!

Had to post these pictures from dinner at Acapulco last Friday (May 23). They are kind of funny :)

Movie Review - Iron Man

After seeing the previews on TV for Iron Man - I was not interested at all. The movie looked liked your typical comic book movie and I was not looking to see another dumb film! I waste enough money at the movies! I only want to see quality films now!!!

But a lot of people told me that the movie was really good. I still was not sure, but last night we went to see it. We wanted to see the new Indiana Jones, but I'm not a big crowd person so we decided to give Iron Man a try. I was thoroughly impressed! It was so FREAKING good! From beginning to end I was entertained. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was Gwyneth Paltrow's character. I don't know if it was her acting or just the character that was a bit boring, but she didn't really do it for me. Don't get me wrong - she looked great (well her hair didn't) but she pulled of these rad stiletto heels! Robert Downey Jr did a great job! He was funny, and could definitly pull of the sexy smart guy thing. Although I didn't care for the facial hair. But the point I'm trying to make is that the movie is GREAT! I loved it - 4 out of 5 stars!!!

Flashback Friday!

I saw an article online yesterday for the 2010 CAMERO! It is beautiful! I remember a few years ago when Chevy first unveiled their plans for the new Camero. I was so excited. I've wanted my own Camero for as long as I can remember! Cameros have been in my family a long time too. My dad had a '68 Z28, '78 Z28 and an '88 Z28! Unfortunately the '88 was stolen. It was a gorgeous car and it was very sad when it was stolen... I loved my Dad's '88 Z28 - Always wanted one of my own to race around!!!

But then in August of 2001 all my dreams came true! My dad bought me a '68 Camero! My favorite year! Ok so maybe he didn't buy it for me, but a girl can dream can't she? :) We got a steal of a deal on it and it is so fun to drive! We take it to Hot August Night in Reno every year and it is super fun to drive it in the cruises :)

And the legacy continues with Ryan - He went to his firs Hot August Nights at 6 weeks :)

I'M REALLY EXCITED

I'm SOOO Excited!!! Here's a little taste from last year :)

I LOVE PASHA, LAUREN, NEIL and SABRA!!!

Did I also mention how much I love NEIL AND DANNY!

Thankful Thursday - SYTYCD!

Tonight is the season premiere of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and I'm thankful for that! This is my absolute most favorite show ever and I'm glad that Idol is FINALLY over so that SYTYCD will start. This show is WAY better by the way than Dancing with the Stars - which sucks compared to SYTYCD. Every year Ben and I go to the tour as well and it's GREAT! I love watching incredible dancers doing incredible dances! I can't wait for SEASON 4! I can't wait for cute dancers and I can't wait for amazing dances and YEAH!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

American Idol

The first year I watched American Idol religiously was season 5 - That was the season that Chris Daughtry was a contestant. He was clearly the best contestant and was the predicted winner - and he should have been. He was amazing on the show! The BEST one. However, he was voted off on MAY freaking 10th (my birthday!) I didn't watch the show after that. It didn't matter though because he still made an incredible record that has done way better than most of the winners! I watched a little bit last year, but no one was really great in my mind - although I do like Jordin Sparks. But this season I got into it again...

David Cook is incredible! I know most people (Mormons) are bummed that David Archuleta didn't win, but David Cook will make a better record if you ask me... David Archuleta GREAT, but can really only sing one kind of song... Although as soon as his record is available I will buy it as well! But the performance David Cook did last night with ZZ Top was AMAZING! I LOVED IT! Basically it doesn't matter who wind American Idol... Syesha will get a record deal... Jason will get a record deal... Brooke will probably get a record deal... So congrats to both David's because as Simon said (hehehehe) last night - "I don't care who wins"

Movie Review

On Saturday a bunch of us went to see the new Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian. It was great! If you liked the first one, you'll love the second one. The characters were great - I cried, I laughed and I loved the movie. The guy who plays Prince Caspian is pretty cute too - I don't know exactly what it is about him, but he is attractive... and Ben thought the girl that played Susan was a hottie so there's something for everyone! :) Anyway - it is definitely worth seeing... 4 out of 5 stars for me, but remember the tissues!

Sunday Night

Ben, Ryan and I had a busy Sunday as usual. After church we went to our friends, the Westbrook's, house and had dinner - which was yummy. Then we went swimming in their pool. It was the first time Ryan went swimming in a real pool! He really enjoyed it too! He did not, however, enjoy going under the water :) He really liked the spa! He had a great time - the only problem was Ryan only had about a 30 minute nap that day... so we left the Westbrook's at about 8:30 - they only live about 1 minute away, but Ryan was out by the time we got home!!! He even stayed asleep as I changed his diaper! That was about the funniest thing ever and of course I got NO pictures from the day...
